At the last Olympics, a woman named Noelle Pikus Pace won the silver medal in Skeleton. Deseret Book has published a book written by Noelle, called Focused; Keeping Your Life on Track, One Choice at a Time.
I just finished reading this book, and I LOVED it! It is filled with stories from Noelle's incredible life (which I found so interesting!). It is also filled with stories of lessons Noelle has learned at different times in her life, and the struggles that she went through while learning them.
What I love about the book is that even though Noelle has done things in her life that most of us will never do (set foot on a bobsled, compete in Skeleton, make it to the Olympics), she has had very real, very normal experiences along the way and any of us can relate to them (being distracted and affected by others' expectations of us, worrying too much about what others are doing instead of focusing on what we're doing, feeling like we don't fit in, having trouble balancing the different parts of our lives).
Each chapter focuses on a lesson we can all learn and includes stories from Noelle's life, quotes from prophets, poems, and scriptures that relate to the topic, and ways that we can apply the lessons to our selves. Also included are photos of Noelle and some of the stories and inspirational quotes from the book over beautiful photography that represents the quote's message (I love these! Example below:)
This is a really good book that I think would make a great gift!
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book for review purposes. All opinions shared are my own.
