To celebrate Ken's successful PhD defense, my fabulous sister-in-law and mother-in-law put together an "End of Summer/PhD Party" and got a bunch of our friends and family together to play games, enjoy food, and celebrate!
My sister-in-law was in charge of the games and she came up with some really fun ideas! With the help of my brother-in-law who brought this awesome rope, she planned for a game of tug-of-war.
She also created this giant Twister game with spray paint! We used an app to "spin" and then had fun watching everyone get twisted up!
Of course, we wore our T Shirts to the party, proudly!
Finally, there was a game of water balloon volleyball! It was impressive the range of ages that got into this game! :) The youngest kids took the task of delivering new balloons quite seriously and it was pretty entertaining to watch the whole game!
I didn't think to take photos of the food (I guess by that point, I was just focused on eating), but my mother-in-law put together a fabulous spread of food and treats for everyone to enjoy. It was so nice to see friends and family gather together to congratulate Ken and have fun before summer ended!
I wish I had more photos just of the people who were there, but I do have this shot of my sister and niece (above) and our family with my parents (below).
I don't know where we'll end up next, but it will definitely be sad to say goodbye to supportive friends and family if we end up moving away! I'm so grateful to them. I'm also grateful for the ones who live far from here- it was a touching surprise to receive some cards in the mail addressed to Doctor Ken! :)
That is so cool! What an awesome way to celebrate earning a PhD! :D
